About Valeh
While I have thoroughly enjoyed and valued teaching middle and high school science classes, I quickly realized that I was spending more time trying to help students close gaps that they had since elementary school. Gaps in their reading, writing and math had a ripple effect that influenced not only their effort, attention-span, and learning in class but, most importantly, their belief in themselves. Even as a science teacher, I found myself staying after school to help students study for an upcoming math test, proofread their essays, or help them with their assignments for other classes. I noticed that I enjoyed teaching math, reading and writing a lot! This led me to pursue my multiple subject credential with hopes of having my own elementary class. I am passionate about helping students build a strong foundation in reading, writing and math so that they will be successful in middle school and beyond.
In addition to preparing and implementing rigorous and engaging lessons aligned with the California State Standards, I incorporate hands-on-activities, investigations, engineering challenges, and virtual labs whenever I can to enhance student learning. I use phenomena as a force to bring academic concepts alive and relevant to every-day life.
