About David

My passions include, not only teaching a subject in a thorough and robust way, I try (and usually succeed) to instill a sense of confidence and enthusiasm in the student.

My students and their parents sum it up best with their unsolicited feedback: "Best tutor ever 10/10! David was resourceful and always knew the answers to my questions!" "David is knowledgeable, creative and thorough in helping me identify the correct method to find statistical significance. After one session, he is of great help already." "Beyond compare... Simply the best!" "David goes above and beyond to explain in detail what each problem is asking. I am no longer afraid of math!" "Dave is awesome. I can already see my daughter's math confidence improving." "David can literally do any problem I throw at him! He is an amazing tutor!" "He made time to help me at 9pm at night. Most helpful!" "David even came to help me on Easter Sunday!" "He was great! I am confident now that I will pass this course!" "David has the ability to take an assignment I could not complete and make it easy. Great explanations, always on time, flexible with scheduling and always personable." "My son really enjoyed his first math tutoring session with David. I am looking forward to David tutoring my son for a long time." "Thank you. My son says he always learns something new." "You are a great tutor and we feel lucky to have you." "My daughter said you explained the material and she liked your teaching style." "Awesome tutor! I learned a lot. Very personable and experienced. Will definitely request him if I need help in the future." "I can't say enough about the tremendous help David was. I was frustrated and didn't understand what my statistics professor was talking about. Once I was paired up with David and we started our sessions, it all cleared up. Thanks to David's expert knowledge in statistics and his approach to making things understandable, my average in the class has jumped up, but more importantly, I now understand the course materials." "You are an amazing tutor! You have found your calling."

I have a 4.9/5 rating on Varsity Tutors.

I graduated with a Math/Statistics major from Washington University in St. Louis. I was a Health Insurance Actuary for over 30 years when I decided to abandon the corporate culture. Tutoring provides me such personal rewards I never experienced working as an actuary.

B.A. in Math/Statistics from Washington University in St. Louis. 30+ years of experience as a Health Insurance Actuary.

I will meet you at your home, or a nearby library, coffeeshop, or any other appropriate location. I charge $50 per hour face-time, with 90 minute minimum sessions. I do not charge an additional fee for travel time or expenses.

For established students, I will provide a written answer for a question or two as necessary, between (at least) weekly sessions.

My schedule can get full. This is my intent, as I do this for a living. But I will make every effort to accommodate you at your desired time. Late cancellations impact both me, and the students who are disadvantaged by not being able to book a session at that time. As such, I require 24 hours notice for a cancellation.
