About Paul
Working my way through college by tutoring as many as 6 students per week, I graduated summa cum laude with honors in mathematics from GSU and earned an MS in mathematics from UCI.
Working as a pension consultant and ultimately as Director of Actuarial Consulting taught me to effectively present complex issues in understandable terms to CEO’s.
In my second career as a high and middle school math teacher I taught all math courses from fractions through calculus, developed courses in math history and math strategies for problem solving, coached teams to State competitions, helped raise failing grades of 15 AP Calculus students to A's and B's; and at the college level as a teaching assistant I attracted packed classrooms of freshmen Calculus students at UCI as a result of my clarity of explanation. These experiences have enriched my understanding of math and my ability to clearly and simply explain math to students.
I have now accumulated over 1000 hours experience tutoring in-person and online across the continental US and Hawaii.
It was my 2nd career after working as Director of Actuarial Services with Northern Trust Retirement Consulting in Atlanta. I was hired as a math teacher at Island School on Kauai.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Education. I have over 1000 hours of mathtutoring experience. I have taught math in a private high school on Kauai and as a graduate student I taught Calculus 1, 2 and 3 at Georgia Tech and University of California at Irvine.

We live in Washington State and Paul in Arizona, but the online option for tutoring works amazingly well. My daughter (who is taking AP Calculus AB) logs in from home and is able to easily work through her homework or prepare for tests with Paul in this really cool virtual classroom.
