I think students need to have a thourough understanding of what the problems is asking, then they can solve it. Most math problems are about understanding what type of problem it is, then one can use to correct method to solve it.
I am not a teacher just a life long student, that can help other students.
I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
