About Marissa

I am a graduate from High Point University with a BSBA in Business Administration with minors in Marketing and Biochemistry! I have loved math since I was young and love being able to help others see the joy in solving problems! I graduated from High School on a 3 year, Advanced Math track, meaning I completed math courses through College Statistics by the end of my Sophomore year of school. I am still a student myself, studying Data Analytics and Lean Six Sigma, trying to better myself and my education every day!

I love being able to solve problems every day! I currently work as a Project Manager so I am quick on my feet and love being able to organize things in a way that makes it like a math problem. Ex: If we have 3 sets of inputs and we need to have 1 specific output, how will we manipulate the inputs we have to get the answer that we want? This is where I come in to see what we can do with what we have and find the best solution for the problem!

I am a Graduate of High Point University with a BSBA in Business Administration, with Marketing and Biochemistry. I completed through Quantitative Methods courses and achieved stellar grades in all Math classes taken.

About the lesson

I love to see how students process equations before going in to help them. This helps me to gauge where they are seeing the pieces and how they need help to find the correct answers to problems. Each student learns and thinks differently and it is beneficial for me to know how I am going to help them succeed up front rather than going in and showing them without explaining things.

You have to find somebody who is willing to look at things and teach things in different ways, and it is okay if you don't understand something the first time you see it! Finding a tutor that is able to show you a variety of ways to solve an equation is better for the student because they will have a range of different viewpoints that they are exposed to, creating a larger repertoire of knowledge for solving equations.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should focus on what it is that they don't understand; is it 1 question, 1 topic, or 1 chapter? Since math is like building blocks, you must have a solid foundation before you can start building up and that is going to be important for the student to recognize as well in their endeavors of learning.

I work based on the time needed for students to understand a subject as well as the level of math that they are needed assistance with. Lower level courses will cost less than higher level courses.
