About Alain

With me you will learn to familiarize yourself with your camera and to take better photos as soon as the first class.

I am a professional photographer from Cuba now based in the Washington, DC area. I have a degree in journalism from the University of Havana and I have been working as a photographer, photography instructor and writer for more than 20 years in Havana and now here in America.

I love to share experiences and techniques. I have a lot of patience with my students and I easily adapt to the student's learning pace.

Teaching is a very creative experience where both, professor and students learn.

After finishing college I was offered to stay to teach photography to the students.

I'm a journalism graduate from the University of Havana. I worked as a photography professor in 2020 for a semester at American University. I also had workshops with Washington Photo Safari. For two years in the Faculty of Journalism in Havana.

About the lesson

I base my clases on the student's interest first and work with them to achieve their goals.

I prefer to work in open places where we can move easily.

I have worked with students of different ages. I work well with teenagers and seniors.

Do not stay with the knowledge of a single teacher. Learn from as many as you can. Each teacher is a different universe and brings different elements to teaching.

Cultural photographic trip to Cuba. I work with several amateur photographers in the field. Teaching techniques for street photography, night photography, travel and portraits. In these activities, interaction with student-travelers is constant.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Can I do this for real?

It will be very difficult to learn?

Could this be my future profession?

Will I be popular on social media?
