About Barbi

Hi, I'm Barbi Campbell and have been in the photography business since 2007 as a professional photographer and photography intructor.

Are you eager to enhance your photography skills, regardless of the type of camera you own, be it a traditional DSLR or the camera on your iPhone or Android phone? Have you envisioned yourself excelling as a skilled photographer, making the most out of your equipment?

No matter what type of camera you have, you can learn to use it to its full potential by connecting with me at Campbell Photography Lessons. With over 16 years of instructing experience, I offer comprehensive lessons tailored to all skill levels – from complete beginners to those aspiring to become professionals. Whether it's a DSLR, mirrorless, or even your iPhone camera, I can guide you in unlocking its capabilities. Join me for private lessons in the Frederick, Maryland area, and let's explore the world of photography together.

I started mentoring college students who contacted me to assist me with my business and eventually I began formal internships for college students along with teaching continuing education courses at the college. One of the art program professors asked me if I was interested in becoming an adjunct teacher for the academic film photography course and of course, I said yes! I worked as a teacher at the college for 2 years as both a film and digital photography instructor.

Graduated from Washington School of Photography in Washington, DC.

About the lesson

We'll meet for the first time at no charge over the phone or online video chat to discuss your photography goals and come up with a plan of action.

I recommend a minimum of two 2-hour lessons (total of 4 hours), and in that time you'll do some hands-on practice with your camera and any accessories you may have. You'll learn how to get the maximum use out of your equipment.

At the end of each lesson you will go home with an assignment and techniques to practice on your own time. Each assignment will be critiqued at the next lesson and you'll get pointers on how to improve if needed.

We'll work on lighting, composition, and getting creative so that you can wow all your friends and family with your amazing photographs!

Children between the ages of 10-17 and adults from 18-70.

She has taught on the collegiate level and makes learning fun,interactive, dynamic and will move at your pace. She's flexible to customize the learning experience and specific outcomes to meet your goals. I haven't used this website before, but feel tremendously lucky to have found Island Sun Photography.
