About Mike
I have been a freelance photographer, staff photographer and a photo editor I retired in 2018 as Chief Photographer of a daily newspaper. My work has been published world wide by newspapers, magazines and wire services. I currently freelance and I sell my work through 2 international stock agencies. Recent work has been published as book covers. I also exhibit at local galleries and on line. My website is mikevossphoto.com
After all these years it's still great fun to capture an image that another person relates to, or finds interesting. No matter what the image is.
I supervised a staff of up to six people and supervised college interns for many years.
I have 40 plus years as a working photographer. I have worked (and still work) in both analog & digital processes, including Photoshop. I have studied artificial lighting as used in producing portraits and product photography, and spent a number of years as a sports photographer at a daily newspaper.

Introduction, overview, and assessment of student knowledge & experience. Determination of what photographic equipment the student possesses and what the student desires to do with his/her knowledge of photography- for example take better photos of family, take better vacation photos or open a photo business.
Those things determine where we start and how we proceed.
High School and college students.
Think about what you hope to accomplish, especially if you see photography aa a possible career. While the profession seems rather glamorous on the surface, it is often back breaking work with terrible hours and low pay until you become established.
