About Suzanne

Are you eager to learn how to use your camera to capture compelling, beautiful images with natural light? All of us are being innundated with images on social media - but what really makes a great photo? I've been trained by some of the best photojournalists in the world, and at 31 I learned how to use my camera and became an award winning photojournalist myself! If I did it, you can.

Whether you are using your photos for personal or professional reasons, I can help you understand how to create a great images with any camera - even a cell phone. I can help you understand how to use your camera and even get out of Auto mode to capture candid moments, portraiture, nature, and sports.

I have 17 years of experience as a photographer for major newspapers, magazines, and organizations. (Chicago Tribune, Sun Times, United Airlines/Amtrack Magazine, Northwestern University, University of Washington, NPR) My photos were selected as winners as "Best in Photojournalism" by the Illinois Press Photographers Association and I have traveled all over the world to cover various environmental and human interest stories.

About the lesson

I develop lesson plans based on student's current abilities and future goals. Lessons may include online or at home instruction, as well as photo - based outings.

Adults and children

If they take the kind of photos you'd like to take and you admire their work - hire them.

Taught a group of women how to take better photos in an hour, then sent them out on a small outing. They all brought their art back and we had a critique and wine session!
