About Kayl

I teach small groups and individuals for up to four hours per class. I prefer to teach on location in parks, cities, beaches, wherever subject matter is located that my students wish to peruse. I can teach phone, mirrorless or DSLR photography.

For Individuals, my lessons are $60 for an hour and a half intensive, personalized, on-location instruction.

I have written small books to sublement my classes with examples taken directly from my own work. These books are included in the cost of the class. I offer them digitally, so you can download them and have them wherever you are.

It's wonderful to see the amazement on a students face when they create a beautiful photo during class or on their own after class.

A friend asked if I could teach his wife and I ran with it!

I am having so much fun seeing my students photography improve.

I have a degree in Filmmaking with a photography minor. My award winning work has been represented by local galleries.

About the lesson

I like to have a phone meeting so we can go over photo equipment and get to know each other.

Once we set up a lesson time, I offer the first half an hour at no cost to the student as face time to get to know each other better.

I have worked with mostly older adults and will continue to work with adults. I would love to work with teenagers who have a passion for photography.

I would also enjoy teaching Girl and Boy Scout troops, preferably during a camping trip.

If a potential student is under 16, I require the parent to contact me to make all arrangements. Parents can place a note in the "Note" section that they are doing the research, so I'm immediately aware that the parent is involved.

I was at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland and a man asked a few questions about his photography. After just a few minutes, I helped him realize a simple mistake he was making. When we spoke again later in the day, he saw an immediate improvement in his images.

Deadly! Kahl got right to it, with my equipment and my skill level. She explained things in a way that I could immediately get to using my new camera and lenses for great shots; and clearly understands photoshop - which I also use.

Highly recommend her. A real pro who has incredible skills.

Deadly! I am just one step up from being a brand new beginner with photography. I have had one lesson with Kayl. She is very helpful and very eager to explain and instruct a newbie. Her lesson was very hands on and gave instruction on the best shot. She works with the student at the student’s pace. She has helped me with deciding on a new lens that I have wanted to purchase but did not know which way to go. I look forward to having our next lesson.

My prices are simple...

Individual $60 for an hour and a half intensive, personalized, on-location instruction. I offer the first half an hour free as a getting know each other time

INCLUDED:

Personalized, intensive on-location instruction and short digital books of examples with short explanations. I also include a critic with suggestions for improvement for up to three photos submitted to me after each lesson.

Anyone can shoot in Manual Mode with their DSLR, Mirrorless, or point and shoot. I teach phone photography, as well. I will teach all of the basic functions as well as composition, lighting and many other creative techniques.

I ALSO TEACH:

Lightroom Mobile, Lightroom CC. I have found that Photoshop CC is expensive and not as intuitive for new students to photo editing than Lightroom.

Group rate $40 per person with a four-person minimum for a three-hour session. This includes my digital book, as well. Please contact me for more information. I prefer groups of no more than eight people. I wish to offer the best experience possible.
