About Sophie

My name is Sophie and I am a recent first-class graduate in Geography from the University of Bristol. I am now studying for a Master’s in Oceanography at the University of Southampton. I have a love for learning, and I am always keen to help others grow in confidence, and achieve their academic goals. Academically, I have achieved 10 GCSEs with A*s in Maths and the three sciences. Additionally, I received straight As and A*S in three A-Levels and an EPQ in 2021.

Throughout my time in education, I have learnt the best ways of learning and preparing for exams, so I would gladly share these with students. I have over three years experience as a tutor, offering both one-to-one and small group tuition in Maths and Physics GCSE and Biology, Chemistry and Geography to A-level standard.

A typical lesson begins with an outline of the learning objectives and a short recap and then we delve into the learning through visuals and walk through exam questions. Students are then given opportunities to apply what they have learnt independently to help build confidence and improve exam technique. I can adapt lessons to the students' way of learning with tailored lesson plans. I have a DBS certification as of April 2026, I am qualified with safeguarding level 1, and have undertaken SEND training too. About the lesson

A typical lesson outlines the learning objectives, begins with a recap task to refresh the student's memory and then we delve into the learning through visuals, walk through exam questions and then I allow them a chance to have a go themselves.
