About Tammy

Offering the Art is Sewing for children 10 years old and adults of all ages. Learn the very basic use and features of your sewing machine and tools. Teaching garment construction, with methods of finishing and tailoring ad well as the how to understand instruction applications using a commercial pattern. Get some understanding and basic fundamentals in design in more advanced sewing classes. Some accessories and crafts taught to help with bringing a sense of creativity, immediate satisfaction and fun to the table.

Years of experience started at the age of 8 with grandmother and later at 10 in a formal class setting. As a young adult I attended a private sewing and design school to gain fundamentals in how to design garments. At the age of 25, I started a business in custom sewing and alterations. This was the continuation of learning while being able to service customers in my community.

I had my own dressmaker shop on Keeaumoku and people were always interested for themselves or for their children. Kuni Dry Goods was looking for a summer teacher and they contacted me for the position. This was the most exciting way to help spread my wings. I taught full time summer teaching children ages 10 and older. This also positioned me for adult classes.

I have been sewing from a very young age. Ordiginally taught by grandmother. I attended sewing classes at age 10 or younger. Commercial pattern at first As a young adult I had taken fashion design classes from Hawaii Fashion Center. Drafting, some sketching and tailoring methods. Self taught as well by opening my own sewing and alterations business. Started in 1985.

About the lesson

Payment to be received 1 week prior to first class.

1)Assessment quiz given for orientation prior to class.
2)Must have own sewing machine with accessories and parts.
3)Must have items listed to get started on first day.
