About Sherlyn
Hi, I’m Sherlyn Chettupalli, a passionate and experienced tutor with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and emphases in Public Health, Business Administration, and Political Science. I specialize in tutoring students from elementary through college level in a wide range of subjects, including English, Math (up to Trigonometry), Chemistry Honors, U.S. History, Government, Economics, and Research Writing. I also offer SAT English and Math prep tailored to each student’s strengths and areas for growth. With over a decade of experience working with students in both academic and community settings, I bring patience, structure, and encouragement into every lesson. As a tutor, I believe in creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel confident, challenged, and inspired to grow. My teaching approach combines clear explanations, real-world examples, and personalized strategies tailored to each student’s learning style and academic goals. I emphasize not just memorization, but true understanding, helping students grasp core concepts and apply them across subjects.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously covered material, followed by a focused breakdown of new topics using visual aids, step-by-step problem solving, and active questioning. We then work through practice exercises together, and I end each session with a brief recap and study tips so students feel equipped and confident moving forward.
What sets me apart is my interdisciplinary background with concentrations in Public Health, Business Administration, and Political Science, and my ability to tutor across multiple subject areas and grade levels. I draw connections between subjects like history and writing, or math and real-life scenarios, to deepen comprehension and make learning meaningful. I also bring over a decade of experience working with students in both academic and faith-based settings, which helps me meet learners where they are.
