About Paula
paula weithman m.ed, lpc
Paula has a masters degree in counseling psychology and practices as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas since 1982. She is a massage therapist since 1986 and a yoga professional since 1986. She worked in a physical therapy setting for 10ys. as a biofeedback therapist doing rehab, and in corporate fitness at Frito Lay headquarters for another 10. Her private practice has been established since 1999, where her website states: yoga for the body/yoga for the mind as a choice for clients. She uses eastern psychology, yoga philosophy i.e.: sutras, chakra system as it relates to mind/body, and somatic practices for the mind, and a combination of yoga asana for therapeutic problems within the systems of the body.
In teaching, Paula uses a mindfulness based yoga practice to guide students into a place of receptivity that develops insight and self-understanding. Her style is clear and compassionate.
Paula’s personal practice started in 1976.
As a teacher, she is a certified International Yoga Therapist, certified Intermediate Jr.3 level Iyengar Instructor, She is also accredited through the Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500hr and is certified 500hr. through Namaste International. She is currently training in Body Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.
She believes that yoga is a medicine for the body/mind &incorporates her background as a yoga therapist and mindfulness based psychotherapist into her private practice. Her aim is in facilitating people’s development of a stronger relationship with themselves as it relates to vitality & well-being.
