About Meera
I have taught yoga for 40 years, and have two books and 2 DVDs available for home practice. My book, Big Yoga: a simple guide for bigger bodies, won the Benjamin Franklin award for the best book in health and wellness. Bigyoga is an adapted yoga practice for anyone challenged by extra weight, stiffness, old age, or injury. Yoga is for every-body. Don't let your body issues keep you from having success in yoga. You don't have to be thin and flexible to enjoy the benefits of yoga!

We Will spend some time getting to know the needs of the client. We will assess body issues, such as injuries or areas of weakness, and also psychological challenges as well.
after taking Integral Yoga teacher training in 1978, I begin teaching at the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City. My specialty is working with overweight people, the elderly, or anyone with stiffness and injury.
Make sure any teacher you choose has the ability to adapt yoga postures for your particular body. A more slender yoga teacher may not understand how to adapt poses to make you comfortable if you have a bigger belly, or big boobs, or other issues that require compassion, understanding, and skill.
Church on a Sunday morning, gathering wood for the fire in winter, dinner with friends.

. What is your desired result? Are you looking to increase flexibility? Are you trying to lose weight? Are you concerned more with psychological challenges such as depression?
