About Mary

I have been teaching yoga for almost 20 years and am also a certified yoga therapist. I teach hatha, yin and recovery yoga classes as well as one on one yoga therapy. I have been a presenter at Central Iowa Yoga Retreat and am a mediation leader at Meditation About Town. I believe that if you can breathe, you can do yoga! I started teaching in Denver, Colorado. When I moved to Des Moines in 2005, I became yoga director at Fitness by Design and have taught there ever since. I am in Des Moines October-April and at my Minnesota studio July-September.

I am an ERYT-500 registered yoga teacher and a certified yoga therapist. I also lead meditations and kirtan in the Des Moines area.

About the lesson

If they come to classes, I have a phone conversation to determine which class would best suit their needs

I have worked with students who are mainly interested in the healing art of yoga versus an exercise program. I weave in yoga philosophy and Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga) in each class.

Look for teachers who have a few years of experience as yoga is a journey of exploration for both the teacher and the student. An experienced teacher ERYT 500 has had extensive training and will provide a safe and multi-faceted experience for the student to connect with their own bodies and minds.

I teach a class as an adjunct to addiction recovery. I love seeing people grow through the process of their yoga studies as they rediscover and re-enter their bodies transcending the trauma of addiction.

Details

Classes are $18 drop in or $15 series rate. Classes are limited to 12 students per class for more intimate, individualized attention.
