About Kellyn

My yoga classes are inspired by my studies in Dance/Movment Therapy & Counseling. You will notice a strong emphasis on the connection of physicality to emotions, and on discovering what is true for you and your body. I approach every student as the unique individual that they are, and tailor our work to their needs. I have been teaching for 6 years in a variety of settings - studio, public schools, private lessons in people's homes, and corporate offices. I have studied and taught in India, have attended two 10 day silent meditation retreats, and have a daily meditation and movement practice.

I enjoy giving students a sense of ownership over their well-being. With this ownership and awareness comes transformation. I am fascinated by the change that occurs both within a single class and over time. I love seeing the shift from stress to ease, from apathy to motivation, from weak to strong, and so on.

I have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in addition to countless continuing education workshops. I have studied in India, and have a strong personal practice to inspire my work.

About the lesson

I ask students a few simple questions about their experience and comfort level with movement, and then we get moving right away. If students are new to yoga, I will get them set up in a comfortable, resting posture so that I can get to know them a little better as their body gently starts to open. After the first session I create a plan designed to fit the goals expressed by the student, and provide growth in the areas where I observed opportunity during the first session.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Spend some time remembering any significant events that have happened to your body and your spirit. This could include injuries, car accidents, job changes or other transitions, breakups, diet changes, stress levels, and so on. You will not need to share details you do not want to share, but see if you can find a connection between any of these events and your desire to practice yoga. This may help you express your "Why," which will help me determine the best postures, breathing exercises, and/or meditations for you. What encouraged you to take this step for yourself?
