About Deniz

I first started learning English nearly 20 years ago as a foreign language student myself, and what began as a subject quickly became my second language and eventually, a lifelong passion. That journey shaped my career: I’ve devoted myself entirely to helping others build the same confidence and fluency that transformed my own life.

I hold a degree in English Linguistics, a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), and a Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Western Michigan University, USA. Over the past decade, I’ve taught English in schools, universities, and language institutes, and I’ve also served as a speaking examiner for Cambridge exams such as the PET and FCE.

My approach is simple: with commitment and the right support, anyone can achieve advanced proficiency in English. I know this firsthand; not only because I’ve studied and taught the language for years, but because I once stood exactly where my students are today.

About the lesson

As an experienced educator and certified language instructor, I know how to guide students effectively through their learning journey. I see every learner as unique, which is why I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s proficiency level, goals, and learning style. My approach focuses on building confidence—especially in speaking and writing—while encouraging students to take ownership of their learning.

I regularly integrate engaging online tools and proven strategies to keep lessons interactive, motivating, and goal-driven. Each session is designed not only to strengthen language skills but also to introduce meaningful, relevant content that sparks curiosity. Along the way, I share practical tips and easy-to-remember strategies that simplify even the most complex grammar or vocabulary. My goal is to make learning English not just effective, but enjoyable and empowering.

As a colleague, I have had many opportunities to co-teach classes with him as well as observing him on a few occasions. He is engaging and provides the utmost care for his students and their needs. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
When I was in high school, I decided to study English and then developed a life-long passion for it. Whenever I had a chance, I would speak English with the tourists coming to visit my hometown. Once I majored in English Linguistics back at collage, I was already in love with grammar, idioms, and everything about the English language.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Short answer: my experience and expertise in this field. I believe that sharing is caring. So, I try to share what I have learned so far with my learners and all these first-hand experiences help them understand the intricacies of the English language. Besides, I genuinely care about my learners and their needs.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I enjoy helping people. When it comes to English, I can easily empathize with my learners as I was in their situation once. I started to learn English as a foreign language first and now it is my second language. I always comfort my learners by saying that, "I have been there!". I think this makes me a "Superprof" in addition to the structured and tailor-made lessons I create.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
While I was preparing for the university entrance exam, I was attending a "cram school". And there were two English teachers to whom I always looked up. They were speaking English so well with such a clear accent. I think I wanted to be like them back then, and now I feel like I have managed it. Thanks to my training and education in pronunciation teaching, currently I am helping others acquire a clear accent without losing their identities.
