About Hattie
I am a dedicated ESL tutor with 9 years of experience teaching high school and college students, committed to providing personalised and effective learning experiences. I focus on understanding each student’s goals, learning style, and strengths to design lessons that are engaging and impactful.
I combine grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking exercises with interactive activities, discussions, and real-life scenarios to make lessons practical and relevant. I foster a supportive learning environment that encourages participation, builds confidence, and motivates students to achieve their goals. My teaching style combines Creativity, Communication, Compassion, and Problem-solving to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. I believe language is best learnt when students actively participate and engage with practical, meaningful content. Through creative assignments, storytelling, and interactive exercises, students develop fluency while exploring their own ideas in English.
Communication is emphasised through collaborative tasks, debates, and peer-to-peer interactions, encouraging students to think, articulate, and respond with confidence. Compassion guides my approach, ensuring lessons are personalised to suit individual learning styles and abilities, so that students feel supported and motivated at every stage.
Problem-solving is integrated seamlessly into lessons by using real-life examples, case studies, and scenario-based learning. These activities teach students how to navigate challenges while applying language skills practically. Beyond ESL, I also cover complementary subjects such as reading comprehension, essay writing, and public speaking to provide students with a broader skill set.
My ultimate aim is to develop learners who are not only proficient in English but also confident, empathetic, and resourceful—ready to communicate and solve problems effectively in both academic and real-world contexts.
