About Sefe

> BA Fashion Design & Technology: Mens/Womenswear with honours obtained from Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI), University for the Creative Arts (UCA) & Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

Commercially, I designed and directed the visual and business brand strategy of African Streetwear brand, JEKKAH ((concealed information) I have a hands on approach in all areas of business from financial planning to retail concept and presentation. Primarily, I act as Head Designer having design their SS21:TOTEM & SS22 collection and brand calendar from 2021-present.

I've been teaching sewing, design and pattern cutting classes for 7 years. I'm based in Amsterdam but located at least once a month in Manchester.

In Amsterdam Zuidoost Area, I own and teach at my self-owned school and social project, The New Sewing School ((concealed information) My classes are theory based, practise-led to give students the confidence in becoming an independent sewist whilst learning in multiple ways that suit them.

In both Manchester & Amsterdam, I've been able to expand my teaching possibilities in all things Fashion & Textile. My aim is to create a New way to hold space that is accessible, aspirational, professional and personal to everyone in my path.

About the lesson

I offer private sewing lessons in the comfort of your home. You can choose between Project based lessons or Technical development lessons.

PROJECT BASED

Project based sewing lessons are where you have complete control over your learning. You set your own goals and I teach you how to meet them!

At the start you can decide a garment or item that you'd like to make, and the techniques and skills you would like to learn. You can also choose the design, or I can create a contemporary design to match your wants! I will then create a schedule based on your availability and 'goal completion date', letting you involved in the step by step process of your individual sewing course.

This is a great option for anyone who wants to get stuck into creating ready-to-wear garments and accessories. Even complete beginners can opt in! The project difficulty will be advised to match your sewing abilities.

Requirements: (Any) Sewing Machine, sewing equipment (see equipment list in photos), fabric for each lesson.

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
Technical development lessons are where you put focus on perfecting your sewing skills, knowledge and understanding!

These lessons are pre-planned and designed to take students from all levels to a professional standard of sewing with each project lasting 12 weeks. Each project is based on different garments:
Top < Complete Beginner
Skirt < Complete Beginner +
Trouser < Confident at Sewing
Dress < Confident at Sewing
Shirt < Intermediate
Jacket < Intermediate +

You will learn how to sew various finishings, seams and construction features such as set-in sleeves and waistbands, depending on the garment. You'll also receive FREE personal patterns to your measurements for each garment created by me! We'll use them to create and fit each project to your size. This way you will not only learn how to fit garments to personal body shape, but also learn how to make clothes that best fit your body!
