About Jess
I am a 5th year Veterinary Medicine student with a Certificate of Higher Education in Veterinary Bioscience and an Open University chemistry qualification at distinction level.
I have 4 years of tutoring experience at GCSE level, though I am able to offer tutoring in these subjects up to A level. References from previous clients are available.

I wasn’t someone that picked things up straight away at school, I often needed them explained to me in different ways before ‘the penny dropped’. However I found that teachers don’t often have the time to do this and so instead of putting up my hand, I would suffer in silence! I am very patient and non-judgemental because of this. I know that if a student doesn’t get something first time, I just need to work out a different way to explain it.
I like working through past papers with students and finding lots of similar questions when a student finds one particularly difficult.
I like to create mind maps at the end of sessions and ask the student to recall the information at the beginning of the next session to help truly embed the information into their minds, in a way that they understand what is being taught and not just learn it to recall in an exam.
I tend to get feedback from the student as we go along, working out what works best for them.
