About Justin
I am in my third year of studies at the university of Cape Town. I have both informal experience of student peers with appraisal, as well as 1 year of formal tutoring of high school and university students. I adapt my teaching method to suit the learning style of my tutees to ensure maximum value is gained and academic excellence is achieved.

My learning and teaching philosophy is that understanding is the key to academic success. No meaningful benefit is derived through learning simply to pass.
When initially engaging a student I will ask them what their learning style is to determine how to proceed with teaching. Then, I will gauge them on their academic goals and any past tutoring experiences which contributes further to my teaching style, approach, and lesson design. Lastly I will ask the student what topics they want to work through to get an idea of their current understanding of the concepts. From there, the lessons will proceed with the content in a way that best suits the students.
Importantly, the learning space should be comfortable and transparent, so I adjust to the needs of the students. Whether meeting in person or online, the student should feel that the lessons are for them and that they have the space to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow, free of criticism.
