About Daniel

I am a First-Class Cambridge Natural Sciences graduate with over 12 years’ experience as a full-time professional tutor, teaching sciences and maths from GCSE to A-level and beyond.

I have always loved tutoring and find it hugely rewarding to see students grow in confidence, achieve their goals and succeed. I am patient, calm and supportive, and aim to build a great relationship with every student.

Some examples of successes include:

• Guiding many students to secure places to study science subjects at Oxford and Cambridge.

• Regularly helping students achieve significant improvements in their grades, including students who initially lacked confidence or were struggling with a subject.

• Teaching the complete AQA A-level Biology course in a single year while also guiding the student’s application for Medicine. She secured a place at Clare College, Cambridge.

• Teaching an entire IGCSE Physics course in one year, with the student achieving a grade 9.

• Preparing a student for the Winchester Election, where he achieved the highest science mark that year.

• Helping a student prepare for and achieve Roentgenium in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.

• Guiding two students to win prizes in the Cambridge Peterhouse Science Essay Competition.

Besides GCSE and A-level teaching, I have extensive experience with Oxbridge and university applications, admissions tests, interviews, and school entrance examinations.

My aim is always to understand what each student wants to achieve and provide the teaching, strategy, motivation and support needed to put them in the strongest possible position to succeed.

My approach is highly individual: every student is different, and I adapt my teaching to what works best for them. I am patient, calm and supportive, with particular skill in breaking down complex ideas into easily understood principles.

From the outset, we establish clear goals and formulate a plan for achieving them. I regularly review progress with the student and adapt our approach as necessary.

For exam preparation, I work closely to the exact specification and requirements of each exam board. I help develop concise, effective revision materials; ensure required knowledge can be confidently recalled; and improve the application skills and exam technique needed to translate subject knowledge into marks.

I see tutoring as more than the lesson itself. I provide ongoing mentoring, motivation and guidance and am happy to answer questions between lessons. Where useful, I work with both the student and their family to decide on the most effective work between sessions, taking into account the ambitions and available time.

Ultimately, I aim to work as a team with my students, combining strong subject understanding, effective revision and exam technique with the support and confidence needed to achieve their goals.
