About Misbah
I'm Misbah and I'm a medical student at the University of Birmingham. Whilst my first year has not been the usual one, I'm still managing to get myself excited for virtual placements and everything else zoom related.
I am a keen and passionate individual who fully appreciates the importance of education. As a former tutor for Explore learning, I have seen just how rewarding the position of a tutor is where I’m able to play an active role in encouraging students to seek their potential, boost their confidence and support them in any way possible.
The one aspect of medicine that I truly appreciate is how academically stimulating it is - you never stop learning! Even 10 or 20 years down the line into my career, I know that there will be more new and exciting research coming out to help further my knowledge. Medicine is based on learning difficult concepts and being able to manipulate medical jargon into simple terms when speaking to patients or relatives. This is exactly what I think teaching is all about; being able to take tricky and overwhelming concepts and turn them into manageable and bite-sized chunks for students to really grasp!

Studying a degree such as medicine requires developing solid learning techniques that are personal and work for each individual. This took some time for me and my GCSE’s and A-levels were spent really honing down on how I learn best! I am both a visual and auditory learner and learn best looking at diagrams and talking through processes with peers. I believe strongly in the power of learning from one another. Whilst studying for A-levels, my friends and I would book a study room with a whiteboard and help each other out with whatever we were struggling with.
I consider myself a flexible tutor and my approach to structuring sessions is to tailor these to your needs. My goal is to create a friendly, motivating and open environment where you are able to ask all kinds of questions and we can work together to reach your desired goals.
