About Maryam
Hi, I’m Maryam, a first-year Doctor of Medicine student at Flinders University with a strong passion for teaching and helping students achieve their academic goals.
I completed the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences through the BClinSci/MD pathway, receiving the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation for Academic Excellence on two occasions and ranking within the top 15% of students university-wide. Through my own academic journey, I have developed a strong understanding of effective study techniques, exam preparation, and how to approach challenging science concepts.
I have been tutoring since 2023, working with high school and university students across a range of science and health-related subjects. I enjoy creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, whilst building their confidence, and developing the skills needed to succeed independently.
As someone who has recently studied these subjects myself, I understand the challenges students can face and aim to provide practical guidance and tailored support to help each student reach their potential!
I am passionate about making learning engaging and accessible, and I look forward to helping students develop confidence in their abilities and achieve their academic goals :)

My lessons are personalized, structured, and designed to make challenging concepts clear and manageable. I tailor each session to the student’s learning style, goals, and areas for improvement, ensuring that lessons are targeted and effective.
My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex topics into simple, logical steps through clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, active recall, and exam-style questions. I aim to help students not only understand the content but also develop the confidence and skills needed to apply their knowledge independently.
Sessions can include concept review, practice questions, revision strategies, assignment support, and exam preparation depending on the student’s needs. I focus on creating an engaging and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in their learning.
Lessons are suitable for high school and university students studying Biology, Chemistry, Human Physiology, Genetics, Immunology, and related health and biomedical science subjects. Sessions typically run for 90 mins, with flexibility for longer sessions when required!

Details
There seems to be a glitch in the system, so I just wanted to clarify that I don’t provide a free 30-minute lesson. However, I’m more than happy to have a quick introductory chat (around 10 minutes, completely free!) so we can discuss what you’re looking for, your goals, and how I can best support you.
My lessons usually run for around 90 minutes (although this is flexible). This allows enough time to properly explain concepts, work through examples, and practice applying the content without making the session feel rushed or overwhelming.
