About Rachel
I went through the Singaporean school system back in the 80s and 90s, and was taught the Singaporean Maths curriculum.
I also had 3 years of experience as a private Maths tutoring experience in Singapore prior to moving to the UK.
I have homeschooled all 3 of my dyslexic children through to GCSEs, and currently 1 has finished her A levels at a top local sixth form, while the other two are still studying for their GCSEs.
I have had over 120 lessons with school children on the NTP programme via the MyTutor platform and really enjoy tutoring and helping people understand what they're studying. I have also taught and still am teaching a number of students privately. You can view my MyTutor profile on (concealed information) which also lists my validated academic qualifications, previous student reviews, and teaching hours accumulated there.
I am currently back at university as a mature student to do my second degree in Psychosocial Studies - a mixture of psychology and sociology. I have previously achieved A's in Maths at both GCSE and A Level, and also have a Certificate of Higher Education (Spanish and Philosophy) from University of Hull.
I am patient and sincere, and I will try to meet your needs and help you achieve your desired grades.

I use Singapore Maths techniques in my teaching wherever appropriate, and have had a lot of success doing this for many school students struggling in Maths.
I aim to help students achieve mastery in Maths, but I will continually revise and test on past material to ensure memory is refreshed and nothing is forgotten.
I try to ensure true understanding, rather than rote memorisation of Maths techniques. I like the students to learn the "whys" of how Maths works.
I aim to increase student confidence, so I prefer not to mark students down when they get things wrong, but instead to discuss their thought processes that led to their answers, and then give them some ideas as to alternative ways to work with the problems.
