About Michael

I’m an active gigging guitarist and vocalist with experience playing in bands and acoustic projects across a range of styles.

My own playing is rooted mainly in rock, blues, pop and punk, but I enjoy helping people learn whatever music gets them excited about picking up the guitar.

I’m relaxed and patient in my approach, and I know how frustrating guitar can feel when you’re first starting out or trying to get past a plateau. My aim is to make lessons enjoyable, practical and suited to the individual rather than overly formal.

Alongside teaching technique, I can also help with things like playing in a band, performing live, building confidence, learning songs by ear and singing while playing.

Whether you’re completely new to guitar, returning after years away, or just want to become a more confident player, I’m happy to work at your pace and around the music you enjoy.

English

I’m a gigging guitarist and vocalist offering relaxed, practical guitar lessons for beginners and intermediate players.

Lessons are tailored around your goals, experience and musical tastes, whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, returning after a long break, or simply looking to improve your confidence and technique.

I can help with:

• Chords and rhythm playing
• Learning your favourite songs
• Riffs and lead guitar
• Improvisation and soloing
• Electric and acoustic guitar
• Rock, blues, pop, indie, punk and other popular styles
• Basic music theory where useful
• Playing confidently with other musicians
• Singing while playing guitar

My approach is focused on making lessons enjoyable and relevant to you rather than following a rigid syllabus. We can work on the music you actually want to play while building good technique and a better understanding of the instrument along the way.

I have experience performing live as both a guitarist and vocalist, and I’m happy teaching all ages.

Based in Shanklin and happy to travel locally for lessons or for online lessons if preferred. :)
