About Matthew

I decided to begin a career as a TESOL teacher over 10 years ago as a means to connect with various cultures across the world and to empower people to reach their full potential.

Living in London, I'm acutely aware of how many non-native English speakers living and working in the UK are keen to (but can be anxious about) integrating into British life, including those who are citizens of the UK! Helping those good people is now my main aim.

About the lesson

I help non-native English speakers engage more confidently, fluently, and accurately in real-life situations — whether you're visiting London, working internationally, or building a long-term life in the UK.

My approach is entirely personalised. Rather than following a set syllabus, I work with the English you already have and focus on the areas that will have the biggest impact for your needs and goals.

I also support students preparing for exams such as IELTS or Duolingo, helping them progress academically and professionally.

I describe my work as coaching rather than teaching. My role isn't simply to explain the language, but to listen carefully to how you communicate, identify what's limiting you most, and guide you towards better English through focused encouragement and guided practice.
