About Jenny
Hello! My name is Jenny and I am studying Medicine at the University of Oxford. Having just been through the application process myself, I am very familiar with the many daunting hurdles it takes to apply to University (for me it was BMAT, UCAT, Personal Statement, Interviews). I have tutored on MyTutor for 2 years and face-to-face for over 5 years.
I took the International Baccalaureate, with Chemistry, Biology and History at Higher Level, achieving 45 points. While I’m not memorising names of bones or dissecting cadavers, I am excited to share my study techniques and love of science!

From my experience in tuition and as an NCS Team Leader, working with teenagers, I am aware that a central aspect of tuition is to make lessons fun and memorable. For instance, anyone who knows me will know how much I love analogies and making up stories to tackle the most difficult of organic chemistry mechanisms. Therefore, students can gain a fuller understanding of concepts on the syllabus to tackle exam questions.
Everyone learns in different ways, so I adopt tailored classes which suit each student’s learning style will explore their full potential.
For my exams, I came up with effective strategies such as, 'group and attack', which I encourage students to undertake, with input from my own experience. Furthermore, I try to help students identify and evaluate which areas they are less confident in and formulate an attack strategy to target weak areas.
In Medical School Preparation, I can help with how to structure a concise and effective Personal Statement. Furthermore, I can draw upon my 6 medical interviews to retrospectively give advice and practice in how to answer tricky questions (I was thrown many curve balls!) tailored to what the university is looking for. My experience in drama (LAMDA Grade 8) means that I can help students overcome nerves and portray the best versions of themselves at interview and help them explore interests beyond the syllabus.
