About Sanya

*Please get in touch if you would like a specific time and I'll do my best to accommodate*

Hello!

My name is Sanya, a friendly and helpful medical student who is looking for tutoring opportunities. Please do not hesitate to message me - I check my profile at least once a day and am happy to try and accommodate you with regards to timing!

I'm originally from the North East and in July 2016, I graduated with a degree in Medical Sciences from St Anne's College, Oxford University. I now study postgraduate Clinical Medicine at Imperial College London, with the hopes of becoming a medical doctor. One of the reasons I love my subject is because of the strong tradition of teaching that goes on between medics. I would love the opportunity to tutor people, as I am passionate about helping them to reach their full potential and gain confidence.

Previous Experience:

1. I have been a valued undergraduate student representative of Oxford University at the Oxford and Cambridge Student Conferences in across the country, taking place in March each year. The conferences are aimed at Sixth Form students interested in applying to Oxbridge, with up to 2000 students attending each conference. My duties included assisting with and speaking in presentations about Medicine at Oxford and advising students on the Medicine/Oxbridge admissions process.

2. I was lucky enough to develop a close relationship with one school in particular – the Dyke House School in Hartlepool, County Durham. My work with them involved running interactive presentations to Year 9-11 students on Oxford University. I have also run all-day tutorial workshops with smaller groups of Year 12 students interested in applying to Medicine. In these workshops, I covered a variety of aspects of the Medicine application process, including personal statements, UKCAT, the interview process. The workshops were very interactive as I incorporated group tasks, independent work and discussions. Feedback from both students and staff has always been very positive.

3. At Oxford, I am a keen member of the St Anne's Ambassadors, a group of students who work in schools to encourage students to think about higher education and applying to Oxford. I have worked in schools in the County Durham area.

“We have worked with Sanya over the past year across both our lower school and within our newly opened Sixth Form. Sanya's ability to engage students of all ages in both Medicine and applying to Oxbridge has been outstanding and we have been incredibly grateful for the work she has done with our students. Initially Sanya ran an excellent session for Year 9/10 students on considering Oxbridge, which had a direct impact on several of our 'underachieving high achievers'. She also worked with our Year 12 prospective Oxbridge students, offering a fantastic insight into the life of a student at Oxford, debunking myths and answering questions on everything from the academic to the mundanities of day-to-day life.
I have been especially grateful for Sanya's work with our prospective medical students. She ran an intensive day long preparation programme with our Year 12 students, during which she covered all aspects of a medicine application. The session was packed with helpful tips, advice and lots of humour and students commented that it was the best preparation for applying they had had. Never deviating from the truth, Sanya ensured that students felt supported and informed in equal measure and has continued to provide support throughout the year. Recently she returned to provide personal statement and interview advice for students in Year 13. Moreover, Sanya is both reliable and flexible, as well as professional both with staff and students. She is always willing to adapt to the needs of students and the school day and takes everything in her stride. I cannot recommend her highly enough”
