About Armanc

I am a PhD researcher in Robotics and Mechanical Design at Heriot-Watt University with a Master’s in AI & Robotics and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical and Energy Systems Engineering. I currently work as a Teaching Assistant, helping university students with mathematics, mechanics and engineering design, and have also tutored National 5 Maths. My lessons are structured, friendly and goal-focused. I assess each student’s level, explain concepts clearly, use real examples to make maths less intimidating, and provide practice that builds confidence and exam readiness. Based in Falkirk, I have a full UK driving licence and car and can travel to Stirling, Glasgow and nearby areas.

About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach I focus on making mathematics clear, practical, and confidence-building. At the start of each programme, I assess the learner’s current understanding, identify knowledge gaps, and set achievable goals. Lessons are interactive — I combine worked examples, guided problem solving, and real-world applications to help students understand why a method works, not just how to memorise it. I encourage students to think aloud, ask questions, and practise with gradually increasing independence. Lesson Structure & Length A typical session lasts 60–90 minutes. I begin with a short review of previous material, introduce or revisit key concepts, and then move into problem-solving with immediate feedback. Each lesson ends with a brief recap and suggested practice tasks. Qualifications & Experience PhD candidate in Robotics & Mechanical Design (Heriot-Watt University) MSc in AI & Robotics (GPA 4.24/4.50) BSc in Mechanical & Energy Systems Engineering (First Class equivalent) Teaching Assistant at Heriot-Watt University — supporting undergraduate students in robotics, mechanical design, and applied mathematics Private Maths tutoring experience, including helping a National 5 student improve understanding and exam skills Learners I Teach I support secondary school pupils (National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher), college students, and early university/engineering undergraduates who need help with core mathematics, applied mechanics, and related problem solving. I adapt lessons for different ages and abilities, from strengthening fundamentals to preparing for exams.
