About Sarah

My approach as a tutor is centered around making math feel understandable, not overwhelming. I focus on breaking concepts down into simple, clear steps and then building them back up so students truly understand why something works—not just how to get the answer. I use patience, real-life examples, and guided practice to help students feel more confident and less intimidated by math.
A typical lesson starts by checking in on what the student already knows and where they feel stuck. From there, I explain the concept in a straightforward way, often using visuals or relatable examples. We then work through problems together step-by-step before gradually moving into independent practice. I always leave time at the end for questions, review, and quick tips or tricks to help reinforce the lesson.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on creating a comfortable, judgment-free space where any student can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. As a future teacher, I’m trained to recognize different learning styles, so I adjust my approach depending on what works best—whether that’s repetition, visuals, or hands-on problem solving. I also prioritize building confidence, because once a student believes they can do math, everything changes.
My lessons are designed for middle school through college students, including anyone who may struggle with math, need extra support, or want to improve their grades and understanding. I can help with general math, pre-algebra, algebra, calculus, pre-calculus and foundational skills, making sure each student develops a strong base that will support them in higher-level courses.
