About Catherine
I'm a GCSE and A-level Biology teacher at an outstanding school in London, with four years of teaching experience. I hold a BSc in Zoology and a Master’s in Human Evolution. Before teaching, I worked at Nature Communications, but ultimately followed my passion for education. I teach across all English exam boards and love helping students achieve their goals while being continually challenged myself. I pride myself on being empathetic and adaptable—supporting students at any stage of their learning journey, boosting both their confidence and their grade

My lessons centre on active student learning. Each session begins with a structured discussion targeting a specific area of the GCSE/A-level specification the student finds challenging. Using the Socratic method, I uncover misconceptions and guide students to think deeply, allowing me to tailor explanations to their needs. We then move on to exam practice, gradually increasing in difficulty and interleaving it with previously covered content to reinforce retention. Lessons are paced to match the student’s needs—challenging yet achievable—so they leave each session with a sense of progress and motivation. While my primary aim is to improve grades, I also strive to spark scientific curiosity and a deeper interest in the natural world. Lessons are delivered via PowerPoint, with all materials provided for self-study afterwards.
