About Matthew
Outside tutoring, I'm a second-year Biochemistry student at Edinburgh, originally from Chiswick in London. I came through St Paul's School and sat my own A-Levels in 2025, so this material is still fresh rather than something I learnt a long time ago.
I believe real progress comes from consistency and solid technique rather than last-minute cramming, and that's exactly how I approach exam preparation. I enjoy helping students find that a subject makes far more sense once the foundations click, and I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in seeing them improve.

Hi, I'm Matt — a second-year Biochemistry student at the University of Edinburgh, and before that I studied at St Paul's School, London. I tutor GCSE & A-Level Biology and Chemistry, plus GCSE Maths and Physics.
I sat these exact exams in 2025 (A* in Biology and Chemistry at A-Level; grade 9s in GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics), so I'm not teaching from a decade-old memory — I know the current specs and exactly what examiners reward. I tutor across all major boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and adapt to your spec.
My sessions are online, calm, and focused on the why behind each answer rather than just memorising mark schemes. I correct the process, not only the answer, so understanding holds up under exam pressure — and being closer in age to my students tends to make sessions less daunting.
I offer a free 20-minute intro call so we can see if we're a good fit, with no obligation. I can also provide references from past tutees.

Matthew tutored my daughter intensively in the run up to her GCSE maths exam. When she started she was not confident in her ability and she was nervous about how she would do in the actual exam. After her several months of tutoring Matthew brought her up several levels and she was very much at ease going into her exams.
