About Matas
My name is Matas, and I'm 18, studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Having struggled with understanding some topics in early GCSE years, I found my own way of overcoming the challenges I faced in Maths, allowing me to jump from a grade 5 in mocks to a grade 9 in exams. I have since thoroughly enjoyed my A-level Mathematics course, and am now studying a Maths-heavy course at University. I have worked incredibly hard to find a way to 'get along' with Maths, and I believe that I can help anyone who is struggling or just needs a bit of extra help to achieve this too. Together we can master a wide range of topics, and help you feel the satisfaction of seeing difficult questions through to the end! I hope to spark the same passion for Maths that I have developed throughout the years, and help you to feel confident for any tests coming up. As I am young, and have recently sat my GCSEs and A levels, I believe I am able to create a comfortable environment to enjoy building up knowledge and confidence in Maths to achieve whatever it is you are aiming for, without it seeming like you have a teacher lecturing you! I also tutor GCSE level Chemistry if you are interested.

I believe it is crucial to understand the basis of every topic, as well as to understand the aim of typical questions for each. Once we have achieved the understanding, we move on to simple questions for the topic and progress to more challenging exam questions to work on technique, and perfect what examiners are looking for. My lessons are for GCSE students; however, I am available to teach any age. Together, we will work on finding the right methods for you, so that any questions seem approachable! A typical lesson would be 1 hour, stretching to longer periods if you can focus for a longer period of time.
