About Lauren
I have just graduated with a First Class Geography degree from the University of Exeter. I have been giving lessons to fellow geography undergraduates for the past two years, helping them with concepts and ideas that they find difficult as well as advising on essay structures and plans. As well as this I have helped tutor students for both GCSE and A level geography. I have had many of my students go on to achieve their desired goals and grades.

Throughout my tutoring experience I have realised that there is not a one size fits all approach to teaching as different people learn in very varied ways. At times this meant that I had to think quickly and creatively on my feet, but in doing this it enabled me to see the different ways to approach tricky concepts and ideas. By understanding the student’s own learning system and creating an individual teaching plan, I have found that the tutoring will be far more productive.
With many of these students I have found that they have the basic knowledge, but just need the support to build their confidence in what they know. This confidence often comes with getting used to exam questions so a lot of my work with them is going over practice papers. I also spend a lot of time working on the skills needed to sit an exam especially since for most of the students this is their first experience of being examined. Since exams are often stressful, I also like to equip the students with techniques to stay calm and healthy in the lead up to being examined

Lauren tutored me for my undergraduate geography degree. I had been struggling with the material all year and due to the lectures being so large I had not been able to receive any one on one help.
