About the lesson

Following the AQA specification, my geography lessons are structured to provide a thorough and organized exploration of each topic. Each lesson is dedicated to covering a specific topic in the sequence of the specification ensuring that students receive a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. This is specifically for secondary school students.

Experience:

As an accomplished Admin Assistant and Field Sales Representative at Hunter Tutoring, I possess valuable insights into fostering a positive and effective learning environment. Having been a student in various tuition centers, both in-person and online, I intimately understand the dynamics of being tutored, allowing me to empathize with my students and tailor lessons to their specific needs. My background in the hospitality industry at Cadbury's has honed my customer-focused approach, enabling me to adapt my teaching style to address each student's unique requirements. Moreover, my volunteer experience speaking to large groups of students has strengthened my communication skills. As a dedicated tutor, I am committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning journey for my students.

Lesson Structure (1 Hour 30min Session):

1) Recap (20 minutes)
-Give retrieval questions based on previous topics.
-Review the homework given the previous week.

2) Introduction (5 minutes)
-Welcome the student and briefly introduce the topic of the lesson.
-Outline the learning objectives for the session.
-Provide an overview of what will be covered during the lesson.

3) Main Content (55 mins)

3.1) Concept Presentation (10 minutes)

-Introduce the main topic using visuals, diagrams, or maps.
-Explain the core concepts and relevance of the topic.

3.2) Interactive Activity (10 minutes):

-Engage the student with an interactive task related to the topic.
-This would involve them answering a series of short questions based on the theory.

3.3) Discussion and Application (15 minutes):

- Mark answers and encourage students to ask for clarification.
-Discuss real-world case studies based on the topic we have been covering.

3.4) Practising Application and Answers (20 minutes)

-Answer a longer-answer question based on the case study we were discussing.
-Go through the answers with the students.

4) Conclusion (5 minutes)
-Summarize the key takeaways from the lesson.
-Reiterate the learning objectives and how they've been achieved.
-Encourage the student to ask questions and seek clarification.

5) Homework and Further Exploration (5 minutes)

-Assign relevant readings, videos, or tasks for the student to explore before the next session.
