About Manuel

My name is Manuel Renken. I am an actor with a passion and have been working as a freelance professional for theatre, film and television for almost twenty years now. During this time I have worked in many productions and was able to gain some experience that could now prove useful for the upcoming generations of actors.

I also work as a short film producer and have won three minor film awards with one of my short films. Nothing extraordinary, but it shows that my work is resonating with international audiences.

Throughout my career, I have always sought further education and coaching - and will continue to do so into old age. So I have regularly continued my education and attended masterclasses. Among others, with Suzanne Geyer, Daniel Urban and Wilhelm Engelhardt.
With them I not only worked on my acting skills, but also learned a lot about working on scripts, scenes and role development. As an actor, you are only good if you work on yourself constantly. That's why Stanislavski divided his great work into two parts: "The actor's work on himself" (two thirds) and "The actor's work on the role" (one third).

About the lesson

Within our collaboration, I will try to teach you the basics of acting. What does it mean to play a role? What does a character need to live on stage?
The training includes role finding, role development, do's and don'ts on stage, improvisation on stage, improvisational theatre.

In addition, I will teach you various techniques that will enable you to activate your voice, take care of your speech apparatus and get you ready to perform on the boards that mean the world. Only rudimentary, of course. After all, your training is supposed to be taken over by a drama school.

The exercises I know come from my time at drama school and are from well-known greats such as Kristin Linklater and Julius Hey.
