I also place a strong emphasis on building critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. For instance, when teaching math or science, I guide students to understand the “why” behind concepts, not just the “how,” encouraging them to apply these concepts in real-world scenarios.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Objective: I begin by stating the lesson’s learning objective clearly so students know exactly what they will be learning and why it's important.
Engagement Activity: I use a brief activity or question to hook students' interest, linking the new content to something they already know or a real-world application.
Instruction: I then break down the lesson into manageable chunks. For example, in a math lesson, I might demonstrate a concept, then have students practice it with support before moving on to independent work.
Guided Practice: Students work on exercises or problems with support from me. I will checking for understanding and offering targeted help where needed.
Independent Practice: Once students are comfortable, they complete activities on their own, reinforcing the lesson.
Assessment: I use quick formative assessments, such as quizzes, exit tickets, or discussions, to check for understanding before wrapping up the lesson.
Closure: I summarize key points and leave students with a challenge or question to consider for the next lesson.
