About Aliecia
I have taught 5th grade for the last 15 years. I graduated with a masters degree from Notre Dame of MD University in 2009. I started teaching with I was 23 years old right out of college and have been doing it since. I absolutely love teaching. I eat, sleep, and breathe working with children and inspiring them to become whatever they want to become professionally.

I am a hands on teacher who thinks learning itself should be hands on. I like to use manipulatives and materials to teach lessons. For math, especially upper grades multiplication charts, base ten blocks, fractions bars and circles are necessary to use when teaching those basic skills, then going to paper and pencil.
The thing that sets me apart as a tutor is that I am also a teacher during the day. I am able to use the things I purchased for my class to tutor. Games and other materials are essential to making learning fun.
I am a currently certified 5th grade teacher. I have taught kindergarten through 5th grade during my 15 years teaching. A typical lesson will start with a review from our last session, then we will go into using hands on manipulatives to start the lesson (math or reading because they have manipulatives for them both). The lesson will then move into a more direct lesson of the new or review material from their class. We will end with a review game of the skills we learned or reviewed from our lesson.
I can tutor kindergarten through 5th grade. Mathematics, language arts (reading and writing skills),4th and 5th grade science, and 5th grade geography.
