About Adarsh

I was 13 years old when I first decided to be a scientist. Even at that age I knew it was Biology that called to me the most. Watching different kinds of cells and microbes under microscope always left me awestruck. As years passed by and I passed my high school courses in physics, chemistry and biology with flying colours, it was time to choose a path for my undergraduate study. Having put a lot of effort into studying these so many different subjects, it was a horrifying idea to me that were I to specialise in one subject, I would forget big chunks of the others in just a few years time. The term "interdisciplinary" hadn’t at the time been added to my vocabulary, but I knew something of the sort must be being taught somewhere. That is why, in 2018, when faced with the choice of either joining a medical school to get an MBBS or to go for a BS-MS course, I confidently chose the latter as it ensured that I would be in constant exposure to multiple fields of science at all times.

My college is situated in rural area that is 50 km away from the nearest city. There were many scattered villages all around and only a single school for all the children from these villages. I was a part of "Unnat Bharat Abhiyan", an organisation that aimed to uplift these villages by providing both financial and academic help. As a volunteer, I have held classes multiple times a week for high school level students to clear their doubts and stoke their curiosity in science. The experiences I had during these sessions made me realise, that with the right kind of mentor, any topic can be explained and ingrained in the minds of students who are excited to learn.

Since then, I have been taking proactive steps towards teaching people science through an interdisciplinary approach - showing them the bigger, clearer picture rather than making them memorise isolated portions of scientific knowledge.

My teaching techniques and methods are student-centered, which means I adapt to the individual learning style and needs of each student. I use a variety of teaching techniques such as interactive multimedia, real-world examples, and analogies to help students understand difficult concepts.

My usual structure of a class begins with an introduction of the topic followed by a brief overview of the learning objectives for the session. Then, I introduce the main concepts using multimedia and real-world examples. Afterward, I provide practice problems and interactive activities to help students apply the concepts they have learned. Finally, I review the key points and check if the student has managed to achieve the day's learning objective. I adapt my way of teaching and speed to suit the student based on the feedback I receive from them each day.

I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. I am patient, understanding, and passionate about teaching Biology. I also strive to create personalized learning experiences that meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

I have experience working with students of varying levels of understanding, from those who are struggling with the basics to those who want to achieve advanced knowledge in the subject.
