My lessons consist of building rapport with each learner and tailoring each lesson to a student's favorite activity or passion. Since many students take class after school, high energy and creativity might be necessary to keep their spirits up and their attention on the lesson. ...My specialty!
Lesson Plans:
A typical lesson plan includes interactive learning, a brief 5-minute off-topic chat (to re-gain attention and offer a much-needed break) as well as an assessment and review at the end of each lesson to ensure the learner understood the concepts. Homework can be offered if, during the assessment, I feel that the student needs a bit more practice or if a parent requests. During the following lesson, any homework will be reviewed at the start the of lesson, answering any questions the student might have on the subject taught.
Being a certified teacher and mental health professional all rolled into one nice, bright package, I find that parents appreciate my willingness to help, not only with a particular subject, but also with test anxiety or by offering to be a sounding-board, as needed.
I offer sessions for, and have over 6 years' experience with, teaching all ages (from pre-K to adulthood) in:
