About Adaeze

Hello, all! My name is Adaeze, and I look just like your new study buddy!

Some info about me: I am a Harvard College admit who will begin study at the University this fall, but I was also admitted to Yale University and Columbia University as a John Jay Scholar—so when it comes to college preparation, I know what works! I also graduated from an elite high school with Cum Laude distinction, so I know how to get my academics in check. Needless to say—I can be a great help to embarking on the college process!

For those of you who aren't, I can still be of great use! My organization, patience, and explanation skills will make my mathematics and English tutoring sessions a smooth, fun experience for you. I am also quite flexible and understanding—despite my strong academic record, I have made mistakes and fallen behind before. It happens! I won't judge you; what matters is building stronger foundations and moving forward with a zest for knowledge.

Hello, everyone! My name is Adaeze, and I look just like your new study buddy! :)

Having grown up under an austere Math/Computer Science major enrollment in middle school and transitioned into the relaxed, discussion-based Harkness method of Phillips Exeter Academy's math and physics classes, I know the difference that a collaborative and friendly approach to math can make. As I brainstormed and ruminated with my peers rather than memorizing, I felt myself bridge the rift between the abstractions of the numbers in front of me and their real-life applications. This is exactly why I present myself as less of a teacher, but a peer—because a lecture doesn't get internalized quite like the discussions you have with a friend.

As a tutor, my lesson plan consists mainly of the student's homework, any special concerns the student may have going into the tutoring session, and PDF exercises if necessary. I may also assign homework upon necessity or request, but we will complete nearly all of the interactive resources in-session so I can better gauge student comprehension in real-time. However, I intend to maintain flexibility throughout the session so that your student's needs can be organically and individually met!

These sessions are intended for middle/high school students taking English, Algebra/Intros to Algebra, or Precalculus, and have a basic (however rudimentary) understanding of the topics they wish to improve. These sessions are also intended for anyone taking the SAT and/or applying to college.
