About Alexis
I genuinely love my job as a teacher and over the last 16 years have sustained my efforts to stay up to date with geography theory and case studies as well as teaching styles. I am a trained education coach and believe in the potential of each young person I work with. I am calm, friendly and very organised, taking real professional pride in my lesson planning and teaching. I strive to inspire pupils within my subject but also to be ambitious for themselves when tutoring on study / exam / revision techniques. I aim to build confidence as well as skills/knowledge and believe doing this in a collaborative way. Every young person deserves someone to really believe in them; I'd love to be that tutor for you.

Effective and professional working partnerships are hugely influential in underpinning learning - both content and skills. I believe in employing a blend of mentoring and coaching techniques to teaching geography as well as essential study and revision skills. I have worked with a range of pupils and their educational needs and am skilled in adapting my lessons to suit the individual.
After an initial conversation about your aims for the sessions I will plan our lessons using a variety of activities that are progressive. The activities will be worked through collaboratively and independently with time for feedback, questions from you and reflection before simply moving on. I am happy to be flexible on lesson length but feel 50-60 minutes in the longest for concentration. For lessons of this length, I will structure in activities to allow 'rest'.
