About Samuel

I'm Sam. I've always been passionate about academia and studying. I achieved highly in school (8 A*s and 3 As) and at A-level A*A*A*A in History, Geography, Philosophy & Ethics and English Literature & Language, with an A* EPQ. This wasn't without setbacks, as I received a C in History AS and this had been what I planned to study at university. I managed to retake and get that up to an A* by the end of A2. So, I'm both a realist in what's possible and optimist in what hard work can achieve. After university I've gone on to implement my research skills in a professional environment, conducting evaluations and research as an expert social research consultant for government departments including HMRC, the Department for Business and Trade, DEFRA, the Home Office and many more.

Whatever stage you're at in your qualifications journey, from GCSE to MA, I'm sure we can work together to help you achieve your potential. I'm also a believer in social mobility and set up a society for students from lower income backgrounds to help unlock professional opportunities and personal development programmes for those without existing support to do so. My specialism is politics and international relations or international development, and especially good in the formation of essays, dissertations and research. I have a wider background in history, geography, philosophy and other elements that I can tailor support to if you wanted to discuss them.

About the lesson

I can be flexible to accommodate your needs and the level you are already operating at, ranging from GCSE through to BA/MA level. Length of tutoring lessons I'd expect to be about an hour, but can vary depending on your needs. I would need you to signpost your current curriculum, programme or assignment in advance. I can then coach and support you on how you'd best approach it, helping you build towards better marks as a result. I mentored younger students throughout my time at university and project manage multiple junior colleagues currently, and happy to be on hand outside of tutoring to answer questions big or small as you take the outcomes from tutoring and try to implement them. Happy to get to know each other briefly before any tutoring starts to see if I'm the right fit for what you need. Thanks!
