About Sharvi
I’m Sharvi, a dedicated high school student at Henry M. Gunn with a strong passion for teaching and helping younger students succeed in math. Having recently gone through the same curriculum myself, I understand the challenges students face and know how to explain concepts in a clear and relatable way. With over five years of experience working with kids through art classes and summer camp counseling, I bring patience, energy, and creativity to every lesson. My goal is to make math less intimidating and to build lasting confidence by breaking down difficult topics into simple steps. Whether a student needs extra support with the basics, preparation for tests, or just a boost in confidence, I create a positive learning environment tailored to their needs.

As a tutor, I focus on making math clear, approachable, and even fun. My teaching method combines step-by-step explanations with plenty of practice so that students feel confident as they master each concept. I like to use real-life examples and visual aids to connect abstract math ideas to things students already know.
A typical lesson starts with reviewing homework or recent topics to identify where the student feels stuck. Then we work through new material together, breaking it into smaller, manageable parts. I encourage students to explain concepts back to me in their own words it helps cement understanding and builds confidence. We wrap up each session with practice problems and a quick recap to make sure everything is solid before moving on.
What sets me apart is that I know the 7th-grade curriculum personally, since I’m a high school student at Henry M. Gunn who has recently gone through it myself. I understand where students often get confused and how to explain it in a way that feels relatable, not intimidating.
My lessons are designed for students up to 7th grade who want extra support whether they’re struggling with basics, preparing for tests, or just looking to feel more confident in math.
