I like to do what worked best for me. The child choses the song that they enjoy. Then they can practice singing in front of the mirror with reminders on good form. To student with no experience I will sing along with them to help find a note to match

Deadly! She’s wonderful!!! Love how she breaks down technique and helps with form. Very musically inclined and wise. Pleasant and very kind. Not at all intimidating as I thought first time would be. Thank you for such a motivating experience!
