About Ragul

Hello! I'm Ragul, a final-year student at IIT Delhi, and I teach Mathematics and Physics.

I know how these exams feel from the inside. I cleared JEE Advanced with an All India Rank of 1349, qualified the Regional Mathematical Olympiad, and was an NTSE scholar. Along the way I also studied Computer Engineering at UNSW Sydney, which taught me that the same idea can be explained in many different ways, and that a good teacher keeps trying until one of them clicks.

My aim is simple: to help you understand why things work, not just memorize how. Once the reasoning is clear, difficult problems become manageable, and your confidence grows along with your marks.

I'm patient with students who feel behind, and I'm happy to push students who are ready for a challenge. Every class is tailored to where you are and where you want to be, whether that's board exams, JEE, or the Olympiad.

About the lesson

My teaching techniques and methods

I teach mathematics and physics the way I learned them for JEE Advanced and the Regional Mathematical Olympiad: by understanding why an idea works before practicing how to use it. Most students who struggle aren't short on formulas. They're missing the reasoning that connects one formula to the next, so every new problem feels like a fresh ordeal. I start with that reasoning, usually through a simple example or a physical intuition, and only then move on to the formal method. Once a student can explain why a step is valid, the harder problems stop being frightening.

I also lean heavily on problem decomposition: breaking an intimidating question into smaller pieces that each look familiar. This is the single most transferable skill in competitive exams, and I teach it explicitly rather than hoping it rubs off. I talk through my own thinking out loud as I solve problems, including the dead ends, so students can see how an experienced solver actually works rather than just the tidy final answer.

The usual structure of a class

A typical session runs in four parts. We begin with ten minutes on doubts from the previous class or homework, since unresolved confusion compounds quickly. Next comes the core concept, built from a simple example up to the general idea. Then we work through graded problems together, starting easy and moving to exam-level, with the student doing more of the solving as we go. We finish by setting a short, focused practice set for the next session, and I note which mistakes came up so we can target them next time.

For exam preparation, I adjust this structure towards timed practice and paper analysis as the exam approaches, since speed and composure under a clock are separate skills from understanding.

My special features as a teacher

I'm a final-year student at IIT Delhi, and I cleared JEE Advanced with an All India Rank of 1349. I also qualified the Regional Mathematical Olympiad and was an NTSE scholar. I studied Computer Engineering at UNSW Sydney as well, so I've been trained in two quite different academic cultures, which helps me explain the same idea in more than one way when the first explanation doesn't land.

Having sat these exams recently, I know exactly where students lose marks, which topics repay effort, and how to manage the pressure of the exam hall itself. I'm patient with students who feel behind, and demanding with students who are ready to be stretched.

Who the classes are for

School students (Classes 9–12): CBSE, ICSE, and state board mathematics and physics, from building foundations to board exam preparation.
JEE Main and Advanced aspirants: concept building, problem-solving strategy, and exam technique.
Olympiad students: RMO and INMO-level mathematics, with a focus on proof writing and non-routine problems.
First-year college students: calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and introductory mechanics and electromagnetism.
