About Akmal

I am a passionate and dedicated Finance and Business professional with a strong academic background, practical Investment Banking experience and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others achieve their full potential.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics and Finance from Loughborough University and am currently pursuing an MSc in Finance and Accounting at Imperial College London, one of the world's leading universities.

Professionally, I have gained experience across Investment Banking, Corporate Finance and Financial Advisory in London. My experience spans financial analysis, accounting, business strategy, corporate valuation and investment decision-making. This allows me to bring practical, real-world insights into my teaching, helping students understand not only academic concepts but also how they are applied in professional environments.

Beyond academics and finance, I am also an accomplished cricketer, having represented Loughborough University's First XI and played First-Class Cricket. Competing at a high level has taught me the importance of discipline, patience, resilience, teamwork and continuous improvement — qualities that I bring into my approach to teaching.

I firmly believe that every student has the potential to excel with the right guidance, encouragement and learning environment. My approach is friendly, patient and structured, ensuring that students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their understanding and building confidence in their abilities.

Whether you are preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, university examinations or simply looking to strengthen your understanding of Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Studies, my goal is to make learning enjoyable, accessible and rewarding.

For me, teaching is about more than helping students achieve good grades. It is about building confidence, developing valuable skills and helping individuals realise their full potential.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around making Accounting, Finance, Economics and Business Studies engaging, practical and easy to understand, regardless of a student's starting level. I believe that the best way to learn is not simply through memorising theories and formulae, but by understanding how they work and applying them to real-world situations.

Teaching Methodology

I tailor each lesson to the student's academic level, learning style and objectives. My teaching combines clear explanations of fundamental concepts, practical examples, worked calculations and exam-style questions to build both knowledge and confidence.

Having worked in Investment Banking and Corporate Finance, I bring practical industry experience into my lessons. I regularly use real-world business scenarios, financial statements, company valuations and investment decisions to demonstrate how classroom concepts are applied in professional environments.

My lessons are interactive, and I encourage students to ask questions, challenge concepts and develop independent problem-solving skills. For students preparing for examinations, I focus on exam techniques, past-paper practice and identifying areas for improvement.

Typical Lesson Duration

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although 90-minute and 120-minute sessions can be arranged depending on the student's requirements, particularly for examination preparation or more advanced topics.

Qualifications and Experience

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics and Finance from Loughborough University, graduating with Upper Second Class Honours (2:1), and am currently pursuing an MSc in Finance and Accounting at Imperial College London.

My professional experience includes Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Financial Advisory and Valuation, where I have developed strong technical knowledge of financial analysis, accounting, financial modelling, investment appraisal and business strategy.

I aim to combine this academic foundation and practical professional experience to provide students with high-quality, structured and approachable teaching.

- Undergraduate University Students: Accounting, Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Economics and Business-related modules.

- Postgraduate Students: Selected advanced Finance, Accounting and Valuation topics.

- Aspiring Finance Professionals: Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Valuation, DCF Modelling, Investment Banking Fundamentals and Financial Modelling.

My ultimate goal is to help students not only achieve excellent academic results but also develop a genuine understanding of their subjects and the confidence to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.
