About Jessica
My experience as a Learning Specialist includes 7 years of homeschooling, 6 years of tutoring, and 3 years of Educational Therapy, and 3 years of ISEE test prep. I have utilized resources such as Lindamood-Bell, Orton-Gillingham, and Evan-Moore. I received training in Orton-Gillingham and have taken courses in Structured Literacy, Comprehension, The Writing Revolution, and Science of Reading in my Educational Therapy Certificate Program. I am devoted to helping children grow in their ability to read, write and understand math. I am a kind, patient, positive person who enjoys relating with students and fostering their growth. My interests include hiking, language, screenwriting, yoga, and more.

I always begin my sessions with a cheerful greeting and a few minutes to casually chat. My philosophy of learning is that retention is best fostered by incorporating multi-modal applications, repetition, and fun. I believe it is best to master a foundational skill before moving on to a higher level, so repetition is key. I aim to keep my sessions engaging and appropriately challenging, and I include learning games when possible.
